International Pinot Noir Celebration

This event started as an informal gathering in 1985. In 1987, they held the first official event.

The International Pinot Noir Celebration is held every year in McMinnville in the Willamette Valley Oregon wine region. It is the largest and most well-known of the Oregon Wine Country events.

This is a small, yet highly regarded international event that features Pinot Noir wine. Only around 65 to 70 featured wineries from around the world are invited to the event each year.

The event is usually near the end of July and around $1000 per person. It's a pricey event, but includes the chance to taste some of the top Pinot Noir wines and sample food from world class chefs.

Willamette Valley Winery Yearly Events

There are a number of Oregon Wine Country events in Willamette Valley each year. Here are some of the largest that feature Willamette Valley wines from several wineries.

Memorial Day Weekend Event

This is one of the most popular Oregon wine events in the region. It's held every Memorial Day Weekend and includes both the larger and smaller wineries. The great thing about this event is that you can taste Oregon wines from the smaller wineries that are not usually open for tastings.

There are around 150 Oregon wineries that participate in the event. Each winery has their own celebration at their winery so you can enjoy barrel tasting, new wine tasting, food pairings, live music and more.

There is no up front ticket cost for this event. Each winery has a standard tasting fee that allows you to participate in their event. You can contact the Willamette Valley Wineries Association for a map and more winery specific details for this event. They usually send this out in early May each year for those requesting more information.

Thanksgiving Weekend Event

This event is similar to the Memorial Weekend event. It's another opportunity to visit both the large and smaller, family owned wineries in the region.

The event also has around 150 wineries participating. It's another exciting opportunity to visit some of the smaller wineries that are not typically open for public tastings.

During this event, you can meet some of the wine makers. You can also participate in barrel tasting and more.

Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon

The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is a new and slightly different Oregon wine event. This event started in 2010 and is coming back for a second year in 2011.

It's similar to other wine country events around Sonoma Wineries and the Wineries in Napa Valley. After the half marathon, you can enjoy a very popular wine and music festival. The festival includes the opportunity to taste Oregon wines from a number of Willamette Valley wineries.

Columbia Gorge Wineries Yearly Events

Passport Weekend

The largest and most popular of the Oregon Wine Country events for the Columbia Gorge wineries is their annual Passport Event. This event is held each year at the beginning of April.

This event features Columbia Gorge wines from the wineries in both Washington and Oregon. There are typically around 25 Oregon wineries that participate in this event.

Open House Weekends: Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving Day Weekends

The Columbia Gorge wineries also host open house weekends during key holidays. This region has three big open house weekends: Memorial Day Weekend, Labor Day Weekend and Thanksgiving Day Weekend.

All three events are fairly similar with around 30 Oregon wineries participating. You'll find different celebrations at each winery including special releases, barrel tasting, live music, food and more.

No tickets are needed for the event. Each winery has a tasting fee that you pay when you taste.

Southern Oregon Winery Yearly Events

The Southern Oregon wine region also has a number of annual Oregon Wine Country events.

Greatest of the Grape in Umpqua Valley

The Greatest of the Grape is a one night event featuring great Oregon wines and amazing food. This event showcases wines from the Umpqua Valley. Around 28 wineries participate every year.

The event is usually held near the beginning of March. It is held at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort and Spa in Canyonville, Oregon.

World of Wine Festival

Another one of the popular Oregon Wine Country events is the World of Wine Festival. This event is held every year in August in the Rouge Valley.

Around 40 wineries participate in this event each year. This one also has both a public tasting event and a professionally judged wine competition. The event is sponsored by both the Rouge Valley Winegrowers Association and the Southern Oregon Winery Association.

Roam The Rogue: Rogue Valley Vintners Passport Event

The Rogue Valley also has a bi-yearly passport event. It's held both in the late spring and late autumn each year.

This is an opportunity for the wine makers to introduce new wines and also celebrate the best Oregon wines from this wine region. Around 8 wineries participate each year.

Umpqua Valley's Barrel Tour

The Umpqua Valley also has a bi-yearly Barrel Tasting event. Both event dates are typically in the spring and there are about 18 wineries that participate.

This is an opportunity for Oregon wine lovers to sample new wines that are still in the barrel. It also gives you the opportunity to meet the winery owners, wine makers, enjoy great food and more.
